Its rounded, fuzzy leaves and gentle apple-like aroma make it perfect for refreshing infusions
Category: Herbs
(Perennial)
A vigorous herbaceous perennial growing up to 90cm tall. A spreading plant, which will take over your garden, so best to contain in a pot. Apple scented, oval, hairy, grey-green leaves and spikes of pink or white flowers in the summer. Excellent for making the most flavoursome mint sauce and jellies. Added to flavour teas and other beverages, or just add to a pot of simmering new potatoes to give a beautiful hint of mint!
Planting
Plant in beds or containers, in well-drained soil or compost, and in a bright sunny position.
Care
Keep well watered, as mint thrives in slightly wet conditions. It can become invasive: consider containing its roots by planting within barriers or in pots.
Height & Spread:
40 – 100cm × 60 – 90cm.
Harvesting
Gently pick leaves as needed, ideally in the morning when essential oils are strongest.
