SOOTHING AND AROMATIC, Roman – or Lawn – Chamomile is known for its calming properties.
Category: Herbs
(Hardy Annual)
A must have in any herb garden, with its feathery, aromatic foliage and abundance of white daisy flowers, it will happily creep about your garden. Traditionally it has been used to treat gastric problems, but is often used today to relieve anxiety. The dried flowers can be infused to make a soothing Chamomile tea or dried for pot pourri.
Planting
Plant in well-drained soil, in sun or partial shade. Ideal ground cover, it also looks great in containers.
Care
Keep well watered until established, and in dry weather.
Height & Spread:
10 – 30cm × 20 – 40cm.
Harvesting
Harvest the open flowers using scissors or fingertips, preferably in the morning when their relaxing aroma is most intense. Regular harvesting encourages the plant to produce more flowers, but take care not to over-harvest.
