VERSATILE, AROMATIC and easy to grow, Basil is a key ingredient in much Mediterranean cuisine, and often features in Thai recipes, too. It always pairs delectably with tomatoes, whether fresh or cooked.
Planting
Plant in well-drained soil, or in a pot, in full sun on your windowsill, or in a sunny, sheltered position in your garden.
Care
Keep well watered until established, and in dry weather, take care not to over water. Protect from frost, slugs and snails.
Height & Spread:
30 – 60cm × 30 – 45cm.
Harvesting
Use scissors or fingertips to pinch off leaves as required. Harvest in the morning, when the essential oils are most concentrated, and avoid taking more than one-third of the leaves at a time.
