THE BRIGHT ORANGE and yellow flowers of this deservedly popular variety not only add cheer but are also edible
Category: Herbs
(Hardy Annual)
Among one of the oldest garden plants, Pot marigolds create colour in any garden. Producing large flowers in different hues of yellow and orange throughout the summer and early autumn. An easy to grow hardy annual that will self seed, reaching a height of up to 50cm. The flower florets are edible and can be added to salads or as a colourful garnish to desserts.
Planting
Plant in beds or containers, in well-drained soil or compost, in full sun. Self-seeds easily.
Care
Water regularly to establish, but then only moderately, as Calendulas are reasonably drought-tolerant.
Height & Spread:
45 – 60cm × 30 – 45cm.
Harvesting
Gently pick the flowers using fingertips, preferably in the morning when their vibrancy is at its peak. Regular harvesting stimulates more flowering, but be sure to leave some for continuous growth.
