Oregon Sugar Pod (mangetout)
SKU
164RV
Description
This is a very popular variety, a tall grower producing heavy yields of long, green, stringless, double flat pods which are roughly 8cm long and have a delicious sweet flavour. They have a good resistance of mildew which will help to extend the growing season.
Harvest
Roughly 10 weeks after planting. The best time to pick them is when you can just see the peas forming. Picking regularly helps to produce more.
Growing Instructions
There are 2 ways to grow these- 1 - Carefully plant 15cm apart in well drained soil, in a sunny but sheltered position. As they get bigger they will need support with either pea sticks, trellis or even strong twigs. OR 2- The easiest way (and the way we do it) is just plant them 15cm apart, just let them grow wild. Keep well watered until established and in dry weather. harvesting this way is more of a challenge but great fun for the kids to get involved to help find them.
Tip
Plant every 4 weeks for a continuous supply.
