INVIGORATING, REFRESHING and easy to grow, this variety is known for its strong, minty aroma and flavour.
Category: Herbs
(Perennial)
Peppermint has a strong sweetish odour and a warm pungent taste which leaves a cooling aftertaste. As with other mints, the plant can spread aggressively by means of underground stems. A popular flavouring for gum, toothpaste and tea, it can also be added to salads, sauces, and marinades. It can be used to soothe an upset stomach or aid digestion and has a calming and numbing effect which is often used to treat headaches.
Planting
Plant in beds or containers, in well-drained soil or compost, and in a bright sunny position.
Care
Keep well watered, as mint thrives in slightly wet conditions. It can become invasive: consider containing its roots by planting within barriers or in pots.
Height & Spread:
40 – 60cm × 60 – 90cm.
Harvesting
Gently pick leaves as needed, ideally in the morning when essential oils are strongest.
