F1 Matador
Each Plug Contains 4–8 Plants
Red Burgundy Shallots
Slightly larger than regular shallots, Red Burgundy Shallots boast a rich brown-red skin with a hint of red flesh. Easy to grow and full of flavour, they’re perfect for adding a gourmet touch to your cooking straight from your garden.
Harvest
July to October — when the foliage turns yellow, lift the whole bunch. No need to separate until you’re ready to use. Dry for a couple of days before storing.
Growing Instructions
-
Spacing: Plant bunches 25cm apart; don’t separate, as this can damage the roots.
-
Position: Choose a sunny, sheltered spot with well-drained soil.
-
Watering: Keep well-watered until established and during dry spells.
-
Development: The plants will naturally push themselves out — no extra work needed!
Top Tip
-
Once lifted, hang bunches to dry in a shed or garage for best results.
-
Fifty years ago, you might have found them drying in a traditional hovel!
