Slightly larger than your normal shallots, with brownish red colour and a slight hint of red flesh and very easy to grow.
Harvest
July to October when the foliage turns yellow. Lift the whole bunch, you do not need to separate until needed, dry for a couple of days and store.
Growing Instructions
Plant as bunch 25cm apart. Do not separate the plants as this will spoil the roots, they will push themselves out naturally. Plant in a sunny but sheltered position in well drained soil. Keep well watered until established and in dry weather.

Once lifted hang to dry in your shed or garage. Or 50 years ago it would have been in a hovel?
