A STAPLE in European cooking, Lovage is a perennial herb that enhances soups, stews, and salads.
(Perennial)

A large vigorous plant, producing a flush of edible leaves in spring, then producing flower stalks in summer that can reach up to 2m. Popular with bees the flowerheads will produce edible seeds that can be harvested and used in place of celery seeds in pickling mixtures, breads or savoury biscuits. Lovage tastes a bit like celery, with a hint of parsley, so can be used the same as celery adding intense flavour to soups, stews and stocks or pork and poultry dishes.

Planting
Plant in a lightly-shaded position, in well-drained soil or compost.

Care
Water regularly until established, and in dry weather. Protect from slugs and snails. Self-seeds easily.

Height & Spread:
90 – 150cm × 60 – 90cm.

Harvesting
Harvest young leaves as needed. It’s best to harvest in the morning when the plant's aromatic oils are most potent. Avoid harvesting more than one-third of the leaves at once to keep the plant healthy and productive.
