Radicchio is widely used in Italy, it's a cross between a lettuce and a cabbage and is fairly frost tolerant. They have a stunning 15cm maroon coloured head with green outer leaves and white veins, used mainly in salads within the restaurant trade as it can be produced over a long season. Can also be known as red hearted (Italian) chicory.
Harvest
Roughly 80 days after planting. If left can taste very bitter.
Growing Instructions
Plant 30cm apart in a sunny but sheltered position. Keep well watered until established and in dry weather.
