Known as common or garden mint, this perennial herb is a vigorous grower. If left to its own devices will take over your garden, so would recommend containing in a pot or tub. Will grow up to 100 centemetres and is highly aromatic and attractive to bees and butterflies. Full of flavour and superb for making mint sauce or adding to new potatoes when cooking. Leaves can be infused to make tea, or can be crushed and added to iced drinks.
Planting
Plant in beds or containers, in well-drained soil or compost, and in a bright sunny position.
Care
Keep well watered, as mint thrives in slightly wet conditions. It can become invasive: consider containing its roots by planting within barriers or in pots.

40 – 60cm × 60 – 90cm.

Gently pick leaves as needed, ideally in the morning when essential oils are strongest.
