Harvest

July to October, when fruits reach around 15–17cm long and feel firm and shiny.

Growing Instructions

• Where to Grow: Best in a greenhouse, but can succeed outdoors in a warm, sunny spot under cloche or fleece.
• Planting: Use a large pot or container filled with well-drained soil or compost.
• Watering: Aubergines hate drying out — water consistently, often twice a day in hot weather.
• Support: As plants grow, support with canes to prevent them toppling over.
• Training: Pinch out the growing tip to encourage branching and more fruiting shoots.
• Feeding: Start feeding once two or more fruits have set.
• Thinning: Once the plant has 6–8 fruits forming, remove any smaller extras so the main ones grow bigger and better.
