Cobra
Cobra Beans
A striking climbing bean with delicate pale purple flowers and one of the tastiest beans around. Produces heavy crops of smooth, round pods up to 18cm long with shiny black seeds inside — perfect for fresh eating or cooking straight from your garden.
Harvest
From June onwards — pick when pods are 10–15cm long, before the beans inside fully form.
Growing Instructions
• Planting: Space plants 25cm apart, indoors or outdoors.
• Support: Grow up canes, trellis, or netting in well-drained soil with full sun.
• Watering: Keep soil moist until established and during dry spells; water well once flowers appear.
Top Tips
• Alternative Supports: Use sweetcorn instead of canes — it attracts beneficial insects and adds height.
• Succession Picking: Pick regularly to encourage a continuous crop.
• Sun & Soil: Full sun and well-drained soil give the best pods.
• Pest Watch: Sweetcorn can help ward off leaf hoppers naturally.
